Google Ads is famously difficult to contact. Search for a phone number and you find forums, help articles that loop back on themselves, and a lot of advertisers convinced that human support does not exist. It does. It is free, it is available to every advertiser with an account, and in most regions you can have a person on the phone within minutes.
The difficulty is that the contact options are deliberately buried behind the Help Centre's article suggestions, and they only appear once you are signed in to a specific account. This guide gives you the exact click paths for each route, the information to have ready, what support is authorised to do, and the situations where contacting support will not help at all no matter how many times you call.
The short answer
Yes, you can speak to a human at Google Ads. There are three official routes, all free and all reached from the same place, the question mark help icon in the top right of the Google Ads interface when you are signed in:
- Phone callback. You request a call and a representative rings you, usually within minutes during local business hours. This is the fastest route to a person.
- Live chat. Real-time text conversation with a support specialist. Good when you need links, IDs or instructions in writing.
- Email. Slower, typically a day or so, but the best option for anything that needs attachments or a written record.
Google also publishes regional support numbers you can dial directly, covered further down. All of these connect you to frontline Google Ads support. None of them connect you to the policy team that decides suspensions, which is the single most important thing to understand before you pick up the phone.
Who can actually get support
Support is available to every advertiser with a Google Ads account, at any spend level. There is no minimum threshold for chat, email or callback. What varies by account is the extra layer above that.
Standard support
Any signed-in advertiser. Handles billing, account access, setup, tracking, policy clarification, technical faults and general troubleshooting.
Assigned representatives
Accounts spending at higher levels, or those onboarded through a Google sales programme, are sometimes assigned a dedicated representative or account strategist. They can chase cases internally and provide account strategy, but they still cannot override policy decisions.
Manager account holders
If you contact support from a manager account, always specify the ten digit customer ID of the affected client account. Support cannot act on an account they cannot identify, and a manager ID alone is not enough.
Method 1: request a phone callback
This is the fastest route to a human and the one most advertisers never find. Follow it exactly.
- 1
Sign in at ads.google.com
Use the Google account that has access to the advertiser account. If you have several Google logins in the same browser, check the profile picture in the top right, this is the most common reason support options do not appear. - 2
Open the specific account
If you manage multiple accounts, click into the individual account rather than staying at manager level. Support needs to be attached to the correct customer ID. - 3
Click the help icon
The question mark icon in the top right toolbar. A help panel slides out from the side of the screen. - 4
Describe the issue in a few words
Type something specific such as "account suspended", "billing charge query" or "ads not serving". Google shows suggested Help Centre articles first. This step is unavoidable, the contact options only unlock after it. - 5
Scroll down and choose Contact us
Ignore the article suggestions and scroll to the bottom of the panel. Select Contact us, or Next step, depending on your interface version. - 6
Select Request a phone call
Choose the phone option, enter your number including the country code, and confirm. Outside business hours the option may be replaced by email, in which case try again the next working morning. - 7
Answer the call
The call typically comes within a few minutes and may show as an unfamiliar or withheld number. Have your customer ID, the exact wording of any error or suspension notice, and screenshots ready.
Method 2: live chat
Chat follows the identical path up to the Contact us step, at which point you select Chat instead of a phone call. It is often the better choice when the issue involves specific IDs, URLs or instructions, because everything is in writing and you can copy the transcript.
- Wait times are usually short during business hours, longer at the start of the working week.
- Paste your customer ID and the exact error text in your first message rather than waiting to be asked.
- Ask the agent for a case or reference number before the chat ends, and save the transcript.
- If the agent's first response is a Help Centre link you have already read, say so and restate what you have already tried.
- Chat agents can escalate internally and raise cases with specialist teams, so ask explicitly whether escalation is possible.
Method 3: email support
Email is the slowest route, usually a day or more for a first response, but it is the right choice in three situations: when you need to attach documents such as invoices or identity evidence, when the issue is complex enough that a written explanation is clearer than a phone call, and when you want a durable record of what Google told you.
Structure the email so it can be actioned without a follow-up question:
- Line one: your ten digit customer ID and the account name.
- Line two: the issue in a single sentence.
- Then: what you have already tried, with dates.
- Then: the exact error message, notification text or policy name, copied verbatim.
- Finally: the specific outcome you are asking for.
Attach dated screenshots rather than describing what you saw. A reply that begins "can you send a screenshot" costs you another full day.
Method 4: the published phone lines
Google publishes regional support numbers for advertisers who prefer to dial directly. The two most commonly needed are:
- United Kingdom: 0800 169 0409, Monday to Friday during local business hours.
- United States: 1-866-2Google, which is 1-866-246-6453, Monday to Friday during local business hours.
- Other countries: search the Google Ads Help Centre for your region's contact page rather than trusting a number found on a third-party site.
You will be asked for your customer ID before the call can proceed, and without it the line cannot help you. In practice the in-account callback is usually the better option, because the conversation is automatically attached to your account and the representative can see your case history.
Getting help when your account is suspended
This is the situation most people are in when they search for a way to reach a human, so it deserves a direct answer.
A suspended Google Ads account can normally still be signed into. The interface loads, a red banner sits across the top, and the help icon still works. So yes, you can contact support while suspended, and it is worth doing. But be precise about what you are asking for.
What support can help with while suspended
- Confirming exactly which policy was applied and when.
- Telling you whether advertiser verification is outstanding and which documents are required.
- Checking whether an appeal has been received and what its current status is.
- Clarifying whether the suspension is at account level or is a set of ad-level disapprovals.
- Explaining billing consequences, outstanding balances and refund questions.
- Confirming which accounts are linked to your payment profile.
What support cannot do while suspended
- Reinstate the account. Frontline support and the policy review team are separate functions.
- Overturn or re-review a rejected appeal.
- Tell you the precise page, ad or phrase that triggered enforcement, which they often genuinely do not have visibility of.
- Give you a guaranteed timeline for a decision.
- Approve a workaround such as running the same business from another account.
What support can and cannot do
Setting expectations correctly is the difference between a useful call and a frustrating one. Frontline Google Ads support is a product support function, not an adjudication body.

During local business hours, callback is normally the fastest route to a person.

Policy decisions support can reverse
Reinstatement only happens through the appeal process, never through chat.
3-5 days
Typical appeal decision time
Chasing support daily does not accelerate a review that is already queued.
Issues support handles well: billing and payment failures, refunds and overcharges, account access and permissions, conversion tracking and tag problems, campaign setup questions, interface faults, and explaining what a notification means.
Issues support handles poorly, because they sit with other teams: policy suspensions, appeal outcomes, advertiser verification decisions, trademark disputes and anything requiring a judgement about your business rather than your account settings.
What to say to get a useful answer
The quality of the answer depends heavily on how you open. Vague problems get generic article links. Specific problems get specific help.
- 1
Open with the identifiers
"Customer ID 123-456-7890. My account was suspended on 14 July for misrepresentation." Two sentences, and the agent already knows exactly where to look. - 2
State what you have already done
"I have read the policy page, corrected the pricing and terms on all five landing pages, and submitted an appeal on 16 July." This prevents the agent starting from the beginning. - 3
Ask one specific question
"Can you confirm whether the appeal has been received, and whether advertiser verification is outstanding on this account?" A single, answerable question beats a general plea for help. - 4
Ask what they can see that you cannot
"Is there anything on the account, such as a verification requirement, a linked account or a payment profile issue, that would prevent reinstatement even if the policy issue is resolved?" This question surfaces blockers more often than any other. - 5
Get it in writing
Ask for a case reference number and, if you are on a call, request a follow-up email summarising what was discussed. Keep it for your appeal file.
Two things to avoid: arguing about whether the suspension was fair, which no agent has the authority to resolve, and calling repeatedly for status updates, which does not move a queued review and uses up the goodwill of people who may otherwise help you.
How to escalate
If the first conversation goes nowhere, there are sensible next steps that do not involve simply calling again.
- Ask the agent directly whether the case can be escalated to a specialist team, and note the reference number if it is.
- Try a different channel. Chat and phone agents sometimes have different tooling and permissions.
- If identity or business verification is the blocker, follow the verification process rather than the general support path, they are separate workflows.
- Check the Google Ads Community forum, where product experts occasionally surface unusual cases and you can see how the same policy label has affected others.
- For anything policy related, put your effort into the appeal rather than into support. The appeal is the only channel that can change the outcome.
Avoiding fake Google Ads support
Suspended advertisers are a target. Search results and social media are full of operators presenting themselves as Google, or as having a special relationship with Google. Some of them will take a fee and do nothing, and some will ask for access that puts your account at further risk.
- Google Ads support is free. Anyone charging for access to Google support is not Google.
- Google will not contact you first by phone offering to fix a suspension, and will never ask for your password.
- Nobody can guarantee reinstatement. Anyone who does is either guessing or lying.
- Only reach support through the help icon inside your account or a number published on the official Google Ads Help Centre.
- Be wary of anyone who suggests opening a new account, using their account, or transferring your domain. That is circumventing systems and it will make things permanently worse.
- Grant access through the Google Ads user access system with an appropriate permission level, never by sharing login credentials.
Legitimate independent specialists exist, including us, but the distinction is straightforward: they are clear that they are not Google, they explain their process before taking payment, and they never promise an outcome that only Google can decide.
If your issue is a suspension rather than a support question, the process itself is covered in our guide to recovering a suspended Google Ads account, and appeal limits are covered in how many times you can appeal a Google Ads suspension.
Frequently asked questions
Can I speak to a human at Google Ads?
Yes. Google Ads offers live chat, email and a scheduled phone callback to signed-in advertisers through the help icon in the top right of the Google Ads interface. Callback is usually the fastest route to a person, and in most regions a representative calls back within a few minutes during business hours.
What is the Google Ads support phone number?
Google publishes regional support numbers, including 0800 169 0409 in the United Kingdom and 1-866-2Google (1-866-246-6453) in the United States, available during local business hours. You will be asked for your ten digit Google Ads customer ID. The in-account callback request is generally faster and better documented, because it attaches the conversation to your account.
Can I contact Google Ads support if my account is suspended?
Usually yes. A suspended account can normally still be signed into, so the help icon and support options remain available. Support can explain which policy was applied and whether verification is outstanding, but they cannot overturn a policy decision. Reinstatement only comes through the appeal process.
Is Google Ads support free?
Yes. Google Ads support is free to all advertisers with an active account, regardless of spend. Anyone charging you a fee to access Google Ads support is not Google.
Why can I not find the contact options in my account?
The support options only appear when you are signed in to a specific Google Ads account and have selected a help topic. If you see only Help Centre articles, you are likely signed out, in the wrong Google account, or browsing the Help Centre rather than the in-account help panel. Sign in, open the account, then click the question mark icon in the top right.
Can Google Ads support reinstate my suspended account?
No. Frontline support and the policy team are separate. Support can clarify the reason for a suspension and check the status of an appeal, but only the policy review team can reinstate an account, and only through a submitted appeal.
Do I need a minimum spend to get phone support?
No minimum spend is required for chat, email or callback. Higher spending accounts may additionally be assigned a dedicated representative, but standard support is available to all advertisers.
